At CES 2026, S-Game partnered with Hisense to provide an hour of demo gameplay of Phantom Blade Zero.
Phantom Blade Zero blends kung-fu combat with fluid motions and heavy, hard-hitting weapon strikes that come with unique combo finishers. It’s an action RPG that combines the Souls-like genre with a diverse array of weapons and skills. The demo had 8 primary weapons and 5 phantom edges (secondary weapons) to choose from, with each weapon having unique fighting styles, combos, and animation cancelling ability that seasoned players in this genre will love.
I chose seamless death (chakram) and a flaming mane mask that spews fire for my playthrough. This gave me a very high mobility combat style with range attacks, throwing my chakram, and the ability to apply fire dmg. I spent a lot of time testing the block mechanic, stamina consumption, parry timing, and reward for ghoststepping (dodge) perfectly.
You take on the character Soul, a high-level assassin serving an organization known as The Order, who’s been blamed for killing the leader of the Order. He sets out to discover who is responsible for the murder. I played on the hardest difficulty in the demo, and the difficulty in the game isn’t from the enemies individually, but more in the number of enemies and aggressiveness. My stamina was at the will of the enemies many times, and enemies will chase you for long distances, which I loved. The reward for getting through waves of enemies was apparent as you saw the aftermath of the battles on the environment.
Phantom Blade Zero will be released on PlayStation 5 on September 9th, 2026. See some highlights from the demo below and judge for yourself.
