What Does It Take For A Video Game To Be Successful?

The gaming landscape is constantly changing. Team sizes and budgets have expanded significantly over the last couple of decades. Because of this, layoffs have increased, and studio closures have become a normal occurrence. The question now is, how do we solve these problems? The way consumers interact with games is different. Platform and fidelity are not the main concern. So what is causing the gamer to stick with a game? I think there are three main pillars that game creators need to focus on. A focus on the fun or gameplay loop is imperative, team sizes need to be controlled, and the gamers have to be met where they are.

I do think the industry is making a comeback. AA studios are on the rise, and indie games are among the most innovative on the market. What do you think a game needs to do be widely adopted? Let’s talk about it.
