After a ton of rumors and speculation, XBOX has given some clarity on the big restructuring. XBOX CEO Asha Sharma shared an email which was sent to employees that you can find below
It seems like XBOX has been in a spiral for years. Even though the entire gaming and tech industries have been impacted, XBOX is in an interesting position. I believe being under the Microsoft umbrella is putting additional pressure on profits. While XBOX is and has been profitable, it is not returning the profits Microsoft wants to see.
We have seen a ton of great games released over the last couple of years, but it looks like critical acclaim is not something Microsoft cares about. Four or five studios are being sold off or going independent, and even more studios will see significant changes. Details are still developing.
