The Crew Motorfest is going into year 4, and with this comes one of the craziest updates yet. The Crew Motorfest will be getting a huge expansion with the new island, Kauai. Not only will you get to experience a new island, but you’ll also get a ton of new vehicles. The part that I have been most excited about is the Tomb Raider crossover and the new winch gameplay system. These updates are bringing totally new gameplay experiences. I had a chance to check out the content early, and I’m excited to share my thoughts.
First, I want to thank Ubisoft for giving me a chance to get hands-on with Season 11. There are a ton of great racing games on the market, but The Crew is one that I think deserves more praise. The amount of content in this game is amazing. With the free Kauai expansion, there is a lot of focus on off-roading and rally-type cars and events. The addition of the winch adds another level of exploration. Of course, you can use it to clear obstacles and access new areas, but that is only scratching the surface.
When compared to other racing games that may occupy a similar space, The Crew Motorfest sets itself apart by having more of an integrated story and really cool side quests. In open-world racing games, I often find myself exploring at random. It was cool to just drive around and get a notification that there was an animal in the vicinity that I could photograph. There are about 40 animals to discover around the island, and I only scratched the surface with what I found.
My favorite part of season 11 is definitely the Tomb Raider collaboration. While most of the other content in this season is free, this will be a premium add-on. I questioned how they were going to pull off something like this, but once you’re in the game, it all makes sense. Lara Croft’s “thing” is exploration. Outside of the eight story-driven events, there are tons of treasures and unlockables to discover. It was really cool using the winch to expose a new part of the map or to pull myself up the side of a structure.
After spending more time with the upcoming The Crew Motorfest content, I have to ask why there aren’t more people talking about this game. You have access to multiple years of content, cars, and events. While it may seem similar to some of its competitors, Motorfest clearly sets itself apart. There are many unique puzzles and challenges to jump into, and I really can’t wait for more people to check out the Tomb Raider DLC.
