Fresh Tracks is not your normal rhythm game. The music is great, and the combat and narrative are also engaging. It is easy to get sucked into the melodic sounds but you must stay on your toes unlock the next boss and genre of music. Grow your skills and enjoy great music simultaneously. Fresh Tracks became a sleeper hit at PAX East 2025.
When the Fresh Tracks trailer appeared in my inbox, it immediately caught my attention, and I knew I had to add it to my list to check out. When I first started to play the game, it was extremely relaxing, but it became apparent quickly that this is not only a cozy game. You are introduced to different movement mechanics, and you have to put them to use right away.
As soon as I got comfortable and felt myself relax, the tempo would change, or more obstacles would appear. When I talked to one of the level designers on Fresh Tracks, he let me know that they want people to memorize patterns. They want to reward players for taking the time to learn the different levels.
As you get further into the game, you unlock different genres of music and increasingly more difficult levels. There are different weapons to accommodate various play styles. There are also different abilities that may help players who are having a harder time avoiding obstacles.
