Gears of War: Reloaded Is Coming to PS5

This has been rumored for a while, but it is finally confirmed that Gears of War is coming to the PS5. Xbox has announced Gears of War: Reloaded, a remaster of a beloved Xbox franchise. This is not the first remaster we’ve seen for the first Gears of War game, however, this one is coming with some cool features for first-time players. For those who are really into high-fidelity gaming, some of the improvements are listed below.

  • 4K resolution
  • 60 FPS in Campaign
  • 120 FPS in Multiplayer
  • High Dynamic Range (HDR)
  • Dolby Vision & 7.1.4 Dolby Atmos
  • 7.1.4 3D Spatial Audio
  • Variable Refresh Rate (VRR)
  • 4K assets and remastered textures
  • Enhanced post-processing visual effects
  • Improved shadows and reflections
  • Super resolution with improved anti-aliasing
  • Zero loading screens during the Campaign

Gears of War: Reloaded will be released on August 26, 2025, for $39.99 on Xbox Series X|S, PC, and PS5. The really exciting part is that the game will have cross-play and cross-progression on all consoles. Gamers will need to sign in to their Microsoft account to take advantage of cross-progression. Reloaded will include all downloadable content from Gears of War: Ultimate Edition, and all cosmetics will be unlockable via game progression.

For those on Xbox who purchased Gears of War: Ultimate Edition digitally (before May 5, 2025), Gears of War: Reloaded will be a free upgrade. Gears of War is one of my favorite franchises, and I am always willing to run through the campaign again. Some players on the Xbox side may feel like Gears of War is getting the The Last of Us treatment with so many remasters/remakes. I’m sure this is aimed at a new audience.

If you’re excited about Gears of War: Reloaded, head to your platform of choice and add it to your wishlist.
