During Summer Game Fest 2026, Bloober Team announced that they are teaming up with Lionsgate and working on a game in the Saw Universe. Saw: Genesis is an asymmetrical multiplayer horror game that takes place 100 years before the Jigsaw we know and…love? Similar to games like Dead by Daylight and Texas Chainsaw Massacre, you have three player characters vs one bad guy. In this game, this is the Judge vs The Accused.
When it comes to the story, as I said, this takes place 100 years before the current day. It takes place in the same universe, but modern Jigsaw is not connected to the antagonist in Genesis. This leaves enough ambiguity that the current movie timeline is not impacted. In true Saw fashion, the Judge has the job to trap and rehabilitate, while The Accused needs to escape.
Bloober Team is known for its single-player games, but I am excited to see what it is doing in the multiplayer space. It may seem like the team is just jumping on a popular gaming trend, but there they are doing some cool things to set themselves apart.
