Blood Message Gets Up Close And Personal

I had a chance to check out Blood Message, and it may be the most excited that I have been for a samurai game so far! NetEast and 24 Entertainment are creating Blood Message, a first-person, narrative-driven action game. It is set in the Tang Dynasty, and you play as a nameless protagonist who has to deliver a message that holds the fate of his homeland.

The first thing you will notice is how great the game looks. The armor and faces are amazingly detailed. The combat was very surprising to me. It felt close and intimate. It was more similar to The Last of Us than to Ghost of Tsushima or Assassin’s Creed: Shadows. This is a welcome change to what has become so popular in recent samurai games and gives the title its own unique identity.

NetEase is better known for live-service games, so the question presented itself: Why Now? They let us know that after many live service games, they were ready to jump into something different. Many people on the team are huge fans of single-player narrative games, so why not take a shot?

It feels good to see something new from the people over at NetEase, and I can’t wait to spend more time with Blood Message.
