I don’t think that people are talking enough about Morbid Metal. This third-person action rogue-lite is developed by SCREEN JUICE and published by Ubisoft. This early access game has been around for more than a year, but I don’t think that there has been enough talk about this title. Morbid Metal is something totally different than anything else in the Ubisoft catalog. Whoever decided to sign this game deserves a raise.
You have access to three characters that let you gain access to various combat styles. This allows you to address various combat and traversal scenarios with a simple button press. As mentioned before, the game does have roguelike elements, but the combat reminds me of Devil May Cry with some elements of Warframe. There is a heavy emphasis on combos and stringing together the abilities of the various characters. You can upgrade and unlock abilities and characters as you make your way through the game. While the game is still in early access, I wouldn’t say focus on the story too much. There won’t be much there, but it does not take away from the fun.
I know this isn’t developed by a Ubisoft studio directly, but it is something new and refreshing being published by the company. Morbid Metal seems to be doing well, but I think it deserves more attention. At the moment, you can only play this on PC, so head over to Steam and give it a try.
